The Montreal Canadiens are the latest team in the NHL to sign a jersey sponsorship deal.

The Canadiens and Air Canada have announced a multi-year jersey partnership agreement, which will see Air Canada’s logo featured on the club’s away jerseys through the deal.

The Habs will showcase the new sponsor on Wednesday night when they travel to California to face the Anaheim Ducks.

“It’s a privilege for us to have a longstanding relationship with Canada’s national carrier in Air Canada, and we’re proud to formalize a partnership that will showcase Air Canada’s brand whenever we play on the road,” said France Margaret Belanger, President of Sports and Entertainment, Groupe CH.

“As the official airline of the Montreal Canadiens, Air Canada is deeply passionate about our relationship with the organization and its devoted fans throughout Quebec and across North America,” said Mark Nasr, Executive Vice President, Marketing and Digital at Air Canada, and President of Aeroplan. “As hockey lovers ourselves, it’s a privilege to fly the team across the continent and proudly represent our support and partnership on and off the ice.”

The move comes as part of the league’s Jersey Advertising Program, which was introduced last season. The program allows NHL teams to advertise a partner’s logo on their uniforms.

In a media release announcing the move, the Canadiens said at the end of each season during the agreement, The Air Canada Foundation and the Montreal Canadiens Children’s Foundation will auction off a set of game-worn road sweaters, with all proceeds benefiting local children’s charities.

The Canadiens are 7-9-2 through their first 18 games of the season, tied for last place in the Eastern Conference’s Atlantic Division with the Ottawa Senators.
