A secondary scoring threat is crossing the border.

On Tuesday, the Montreal Victoire announced they had signed forward Hayley Scamurra to a two-year contract through the 2026-27 season.

Scamurra admits she’s excited to join an exceptional team in Montreal.

“They have a talented group of players and seasoned coaching staff that I’m eager to learn from,” Scamurra said in a release. “I’m excited to feel the passionate energy of the Victoire fans cheering for me and our team this season.”

Scamurra joins the Victoire after spending the majority of the 2024-25 campaign with the Toronto Sceptres. She began her PWHL career with Ottawa, but was dealt to the Sceptres in late December in the blockbuster deal that saw her and Savannah Harmon head to Toronto for Victoria Bach Jocelyne Larocque.

Unfortunately, for the Sceptres, the deal did little help. Scamurra never found her comfort zone with her new team, scoring just a goal and two assists for three points in 19 games. She did score a goal in the team’s semifinal series against the Minnesota Frost. However, Toronto lost to the eventual Walter Cup champions (again) in four games.

It was a far cry from her respectable inaugural run with Ottawa, where the Buffalo native notched five goals and as many assists for 10 points.

Scamurra played parts of three seasons with the Buffalo Beauts of the old PHF (formerly the NWHL), winning the Isobel Cup in 2017.

Along with her professional experience, the former Northeastern product has been a mainstay on the international scene. She made her debut with the U.S. National Team at the 2019 IIHF Women’s World Championship and has since gone on to win three gold medals and three silvers. She was also part of the American squad that brought home the silver from the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.
