Marie-Philip Poulin continued to rack up accolades in her already decorated career on the final day of the 2024-25 PWHL regular season, finishing the year as the league’s leading goalscorer.

The 34-year-old scored 19 goals and 26 points in 30 games this season, leading the Montréal Victoire to a first-place finish with a record of 11-8-7-3 and 53 points.

Sitting on 17 goals heading into the final game of the year against the New York Sirens, Poulin added another two tallies in a 3-2 win, securing the top seed in the Walter Cup Playoffs, narrowly pushing past the Toronto Sceptres in second place, who finished on 48 points.

With the win, Montréal will have the opportunity on Sunday to select their opening-round opponent from either the Ottawa Charge or Minnesota Frost, who finished third and fourth, respectively.

Poulin’s 19 goals included six game-winning goals, and five multi-goal games, including the first of the PWHL’s five hat tricks this season, when she netted three goals against Ottawa on Jan. 29.

While her single-season goal tally fell short of Sceptres forward Natalie Spooner’s 20 goals in 24 games from 2024, Poulin put herself atop the league’s all-time scoring list, with 29 goals and 49 points in 51 games with the Victoire over the first two seasons.

“It’s never easy in this league—it’s quite hard to play. It’s going to be ups and downs, and it’s how we’re going to be able to get back up the next time,” Poulin said after the season’s final game. “You want to get better every day. You want to push the envelope, and that’s the best part of it. This group is hungry, and we’re excited for the playoffs.”

Minnesota’s Hillary Knight and Ottawa’s Tereza Vanisova tied for second in league goalscoring, each hitting 15 markers in 30 games. Meanwhile, Montréal’s next best scorer was Poulin’s linemate and wife, Laura Stacey, who netted 13 goals.

Poulin now looks to add a Walter Cup title to her illustrious resume, which includes three Olympic gold medals and four IIHF World Championship titles.

The 2025 PWHL Walter Cup Playoffs begin on May 7.
