Predators’ Luke Schenn: ‘I don’t think I’ve ever been a part of a group like this that literally can’t score a goal’

It’s been a difficult season for the Nashville Predators, a team that came into the 2024-25 season with high expectations but have struggled to keep their heads above water. On Tuesday, things weren’t any different, with the Predators losing 4-1 to the Florida Panthers.
Predators’ Defenseman Luke Schenn didn’t mince words after the game.

“I don’t think I’ve ever been a part of a group like this that literally can’t score a goal,” Schenn said, according to The Hockey News’ Emma Lingan.
The harsh words come after Schenn, 35, played 17:02 of ice time, recording four hits and blocking one shot.
Following the Predators’ loss, they’re now 20-30-7 with 47 points and a minus-42 goal differential, seventh in the Central Division and third-last in the Western Conference. They’re 2-8-0 in their last 10 games.
Filip Forsberg leads the team in all offensive categories, scoring 21 goals and 32 assists for 53 points. Jonathan Marchessault isn’t far behind with 18 goals and 27 assists for 45 points.
Schenn has one goal and four assists for five points in 57 games with the Predators this season. Now in his 17th NHL season, Schenn has 44 goals and 159 assists for 203 points in 1,053 regular-season games with the Predators, Vancouver Canucks, Tampa Bay Lightning, Anaheim Ducks, Arizona Coyotes, Los Angeles Kings, Philadelphia Flyers and Toronto Maple Leafs.
Schenn won two Stanley Cup championships with the Lightning in 2020 and 2021. Taken No. 5 overall by the Maple Leafs in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, Schenn spent three seasons playing for the Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League.
Nashville’s next game is Feb. 27 against the Winnipeg Jets.
