Predators place Tyson Jost on waivers
Last call for waivers before the new year begins.
On Monday, the final day before the 2026-27 regular season, the Nashville Predators placed forward Tyson Jost on waivers, making him available to the other 31 teams in the NHL.
If Jost were to clear waivers on Tuesday, he would be eligible to be assigned to the Predators’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Milwaukee Admirals.
It was a bit of a newsy day for Jost, as he signed a one-year, two-way contract for the 2026-27 season. The deal carries an NHL cap hit of $850,000, a minor-league salary of $475,000, and a guaranteed salary of $500,000. He earned a new deal after coming to the Predators’ training camp on a professional tryout.
What was strange about the PTO was how Jost had spent the 2025-26 campaign with the Preds. The team claimed him off waivers last September from the Carolina Hurricanes, and he played on a one-year, league-minimum contract. The St. Albert, Alb. native spent the entire year in Nashville, marking the first time since the 2022-23 season that he played the whole season in the NHL. In 69 appearances, Jost scored eight goals and 16 points, playing a depth role on a team that almost snuck into a Wild Card spot in the Western Conference.
In 564 regular-season games in the NHL, Jost has scored 69 goals and 96 assists for 165 points, with another 10 points in 46 Stanley Cup Playoff contests. He’s also notched 13 goals and 130 points in 52 AHL appearances.
On Sunday, 71 players were placed on waivers. Yet, only former Washington Capitals goaltender Clay Stevenson was claimed, as he will be joining the Winnipeg Jets. Everyone else can be sent down to the AHL.
