Nashville Predators sign Gustav Nyquist to two-year, $6.3 million contract
Nashville Predators general manager Barry Trotz announced that the club has signed forward Gustav Nyquist to a two-year, $6.2 million contract. According to CapFriendly, the contract will have an average annual value of $3.1 million.

While with the Jackets, he notched 10 goals and 12 assists for 22 points in 48 games before being offloaded in a deal to the Wild. While in Minnesota, Nyquist notched five points in three games as he was returning from injury. He added five points in six Stanley Cup Playoff games.
The 33-year-old was initially drafted No. 121 by the Detroit Red Wings in the 2008 NHL Draft. He spent three seasons at the University of Maine, where he was a two-time Hobey Baker Finalist after notching 61 points in 2009-10 and 51 points in 2010-2011. Nyquist made his NHL debut in 2011-12 with the Red Wings, notching seven points in 18 games.
The Halmstad, Sweden product spent seven and a half seasons with the Red Wings before being moved to the San Jose Sharks in 2018-19, where he helped the Sharks embark on their Stanley Cup run that saw him lose in the Western Conference Finals to the St. Louis Blues, he notched 11 points in 20 playoff games.
Nyquist signed a four-year, $22 million contract with the Blue Jackets prior to the 2019-20 regular season. In his first year, he collected 42 points in 70 games and added two assists in 10 playoff games. Nyquist missed the entirety of the 2020-21 season but returned in 2012-22, where he collected 18 goals and 35 assists for 53 points in 82 games. His first time surpassing the 50-point mark since 2014-15.
