Nashville Predators sign Kalan Lind to three-year, entry-level contract

Nashville Predators general manager Barry Trotz announced today that the team has signed forward Kalan Lind to a three-year, entry-level contract.

Lind was selected by the Predators in the second round, No. 46 overall, at the 2023 NHL Draft held at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. The 6-foot, 158-pound winger spent the 2022-23 season with the Red Deer Rebels of the Western Hockey League (WHL).

He notched 16 goals and 28 assists for a career-high 44 points in 43 games. He added five points in 10 WHL Playoff games as the Rebels were eliminated in the second round of the playoffs. Lind was selected No. 6 overall in the 2020 WHL Draft. In 2021-22, during his rookie WHL campaign, he scored 20 goals and posted 38 points and 93 penalty minutes. Throughout his WHL career thus far, the Swift Current, Saskatchewan product has collected 40 goals and 48 assists for 88 points in 119 WHL games.

Lind was a member of Team White at the CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game that was held in Vancouver. After a number of board-rattling hits, he dropped the gloves with Sudbury Wolves forward Alex Pharand. A testament to the toughness and mentality of Lind. On the international stage, Lind represented Team Canada that the 2023 Hlinka Gretzky Cup, where he notched one goal in five games, winning a gold medal alongside Preds’ prospects Matthew Wood, Tanner Molendyk and Dylan MacKinnon.

He brings it every shift, getting in your face and making you pay on the scoresheet,” Daily Faceoff prospect analyst Steven Ellis said. “Lind has the makings of a fan favorite for the way he gives it his all every game. He’s a future middle-six forward with the potential to step up in a pinch.”
