Predators trade Anthony Angello to Lightning for Jesse Ylonen

The Nashville Predators have acquired right winger Jesse Ylonen from the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for center Anthony Angello.

Through 47 games this season with the Syracuse Crunch, the Lightning’s AHL affiliate, Ylonen scored eight times and added 17 assists for 25 points alongside 18 penalty minutes and a plus-five rating. Skating in his first season with the Lightning organization, Ylonen was previously part of the Montreal Canadiens following his 35th overall selection in the 2018 NHL Draft.

With the Canadiens last season, the 25-year-old native of Scottsdale, Ariz., collected eight points counting four goals and four assists coming in 59 outings. In all, through 111 career contests at the NHL level, Ylonen has tallied 12 goals and 17 assists for 29 points.

A dual citizen of Finland, Ylonen previously represented the Finns at the 2019 World Juniors where through seven appearances he picked up three goals and three assists for six points en route to a gold medal victory.

For Angello, the 6-foot-4 forward saw 41 contests this season with the Milwaukee Admirals, the Predators’ farm club, in which he collected seven goals and seven assists for 14 points coupled with 28 penalty minutes and a plus-five mark. Angello had been a part of the Admirals for the past three seasons, while over eight seasons in the minors he has totaled 320 appearances in which he has tallied 68 goals and 65 assists for 133 points.

A 2014 fifth-round selection by the Pittsburgh Penguins, Angello last played at the NHL level with the Penguins during the 2021-22 campaign, putting up two penalty minutes across four outings. In all, the 28-year-old native of Albany, N.Y., has totaled 31 NHL games over three seasons in which he has scored three times and added two assists for five points with 14 penalty minutes and a plus-three rating.
