NCAA announces sites for 2027, 2028 Frozen Fours
On Wednesday, the NCAA announced the locations for the 2027 and 2028 Men’s and Women’s Frozen Fours.
Washington, D.C., will host the men’s final in 2027, with the national championship being decided in Chicago the following year.

— NCAA Ice Hockey (@NCAAIceHockey) October 2, 2024It will be the second time for the nation’s capital and the Windy City that the D-I men’s championship games will be gracing their cities.
The Men’s Frozen Four will return to Capital One Arena, the home of the Washington Capitals, in 2027. It will be the first time the arena has hosted the event since 2009, when Boston University rallied to beat Miami in overtime in the championship game—a game Morning Cuppa Hockey co-host Colby Cohen might remember well.
The first time the Frozen Four was ever held at the Chicago Blackhawks’ home rink, the United Center, was in 2017. That year, current Boston Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery led Denver to victory over Minnesota-Duluth.
This season’s Men’s Frozen Four will be held at the Enterprise Center, home of the St. Louis Blues, while the 2026 event will debut at the Vegas Golden Knights’ home barn, T-Mobile Arena.
On the women’s side, Fairfield, Connecticut, will be the home of the 2027 Frozen Four, while the tournament semifinals and final will return to Duluth, Minnesota, once again in 2028.

— NCAA Ice Hockey (@NCAAIceHockey) October 2, 2024The 2027 end to the women’s tournament will mark the third time it will be held in Connecticut. In 2014 and 2019, Quinnipiac University hosted the Frozen Four, which saw Clarkson and Wisconsin win titles, respectively. In two-plus years, Sacred Heart’s new Martire Family Arena will be the home for the event.
The 2028 Frozen Four will see Duluth hosting it for the fifth time. Minnesota-Duluth’s AMSOIL Arena has been the home for the final three games in 2003, 2008, 2012 and 2023. The Bulldogs won the first two times the championship game was held in their rink, while the University of Minnesota won it all in 2012. Wisconsin outlasted Ohio State in a classic 1-0 game at AMSOIL two years ago.
Ridder Arena, home of the Golden Gophers women’s team, will host the Women’s Frozen Four for a record fifth time this coming March, while Penn State’s Pegula Ice Arena will hold the event in 2026.
