With the majority of the WCHA taking last weekend off in recognition of the Rivalry Series, college hockey fans were treated to some exciting matchups from some of the other conferences last week.

From close battles in the ECAC to standout efforts in Hockey East and beyond, there were some movers and shakers across the women’s collegiate landscape last week.

Check out who remains in this week’s Top 10:

1. Wisconsin

Record: 11-1-0
Last Week: 1st

The Badgers were one of the many teams across the nation that took last weekend off, but the team was well-represented during the Rivalry Series. Laila Edwards had a standout performance in last Friday’s win over Canada, potting a goal and two assists. Head coach Mark Johnson has to be happy with some of his team’s best players getting the chance to represent their nation on the biggest stage, and hopefully carry that momentum back into the regular season.

Wisconsin will return to action this weekend, facing St. Cloud State in conference action.

2. Minnesota

Record: 10-2-0
Last Week: 2nd

Speaking of great outings in the Rivlary Series, forward Abbey Murphy continued to show why she is one of the rising stars in the game with her hat trick in Game 1 against the Canadians last Thursday. Her physical style and tenacious play make her a force wherever she plays. She did lose the lead in the NCAA scoring race to Quinnipiac’s Kahlen Lamarche, but that doesn’t mean she won’t put her name back to the top soon.

The Gophers will be back at Ridder this weekend for a pair of games against Bemidji State.

3. Ohio State

Record: 9-1-0
Last Week: 3rd

Joy Dunne might not have put up numbers like her fellow WCHA rivals, but she was able to keep fresh with some quality action. She’s part of a strong Buckeyes team that features the WCHA Rookie of the Month for October, Hilda Svensson, who sits tied for fifth in the country with 18 points in 10 games. With some tough games in the near future, OSU will have a chance to show its depth.

Ohio State returns to play this weekend with a pair of contests against Minnesota State.

4. Penn State

Record: 12-0-0
Last Week: 4th

The undefeated Nittany Lions have been steady through the first month or so of the season. With the team taking last week off and star forward Tessa Janecke playing for Team USA, it gives the rest of the Penn State squad a chance to rest before some more conference play, and a tough portion of their schedule, as the team faces the likes of Northeastern, Cornell and Ohio State around the holiday season.

The Nittany Lions jump back into their AHA schedule this weekend against Syracuse.

5. Cornell

Record: 7-0-0
Last Week: 5th

The Big Red have proven in the first month of their season that they are, once again, going to be the team to beat in the ECAC. The team does an excellent job at limiting their opponent’s chances, but even if they allow an opportunity, Annelies Bergmann is there to make the save. Cornell has an efficient system that has made them fun to watch, but miserable to play against, over the past couple of years.

They will have a notable test this weekend when they face rival Cornell for a two-game set.

6. Minnesota Duluth

Record: 8-4-0
Last Week: 6th

The Bulldogs had some representation in the Rivalry Series, with Caitlin Kraemer and Eve Gascon playing for Team Canada. Unfortunately, they weren’t able to help their team slow down the Americans’ daunting attack. Duluth will get its stars back in the lineup for the first time in a couple of weeks this weekend, giving them a needed boost as they dive back into their WCHA schedule, as the team looks to keep up with the best in the conference.

UMD heads over to St. Paul this weekend for a couple of games against St. Thomas.

7. Quinnipiac

Record: 12-1-1
Last Week: 7th

One of the few top teams to play last week, the Bobcats had to grind out points in ECAC action. Lamarche continued her dominant season, scoring twice against St. Lawrence last Friday. However, Quinnipiac squandered a 2-0 lead, needing Tessa Holk’s marker in overtime to give the team a 3-2 victory. The next night, goaltender Felicia Frank pitched a shutout to at least give QU a point against Clarkson, as the Bobcats fell in a shootout.

The Bobcats will enjoy the week off to rest up before some more crucial conference games, including an intriguing home-and-home against Princeton next week.

8. Northeastern

Record: 8-2-0
Last Week: 10th

The Huskies met a pesky Vermont last week and played pretty well on home ice. Along with outshooting the Catamounts in the weekend sweep, Northeastern outscored their conference foe by a score of 6-2. It was a solid couple of victories for Northeastern, who didn’t want a letdown after sweeping Boston University the weekend before. Stryker Zablocki scored in both games for the Huskies, while netminder Lisa Jönsson stopped 39 of the 41 shots she faced in the two games.

Northeastern continues its Hockey East season this weekend with a home-and-home against Merrimack.

9. Connecticut

Record: 8-3-1
Last Week: 8th

The Huskies had a chance to keep their spot near the top of the Hockey East poll this past weekend, but how they were unable to complete the sweep of Boston College, losing on home ice in particular, inserted a little bit of doubt. Tia Chan had to stand on her head in a 3-1 win on Friday, turning away 31 shots while her team was brutally outshot. Yet, she wasn’t able to replicate her performance in the second game, as BC came back with a 2-1 victory to grab a split.

UConn is off this weekend, but will be back on home ice next week for a couple of conference matchups against Vermont.

10. Yale

Record: 5-2-0
Last Week: NR

A team on few people’s radars prior to the season, these Bulldogs have had a respectable start, and are quietly becoming a dark horse in the ECAC. Sure, Yale’s toughest games thus far have come against Quinnipiac and Cornell, both losses, but how Yale has played in its other games, including a big overtime win over Colgate, on the road, a couple of weeks ago, shows they can be a tough team to play against when they’re on their A-game.

Yale has a couple of tough games at “The Whale” this weekend, as the team faces Harvard on Friday before hosting Dartmouth on Saturday.

Honorable Mention: Clarkson (6-5-1), St. Cloud State (4-8-0), Colgate (5-6-1)
