New Jersey Devils acquire Jayce Hawryluk from Ottawa Senators
As announced by the Ottawa Senators Communications Twitter account the Senators have traded forward Jayce Hawryluk to the New Jersey Devils in exchange for future considerations.
Additionally, the Senators have shipped defenseman Kristians Rubins to the Calgary Flames for future considerations.

— Sens Communications (@Media_Sens) March 10, 2023Hawryluk, 27, is a winger who plays this season for the Belleville Senators. In 19 games, he scored three goals and eight points with 27 penalty minutes and a -2 rating. He had injury problems which prevented him from reaching his potential in the Senators organization.
Hawryluk was originally selected in the second round of the 2014 NHL Draft by the Florida Panthers. He played his junior career with the Brandon Wheat Kings, spending four seasons there. He played 232 games in Brandon, scoring 119 goals and 278 points with an impressive +99 rating.
The Yorkton, Saskatchewan native made his professional debut in the 2016-17 season with the Springfield Thunderbirds in the Panthers organization. He went on to play much of the next three seasons there, scoring a combined 94 points in 142 American Hockey League games.
His better than point-per-game scoring rate in the 2018-19 season earned him an extended look in the NHL with the Panthers. He played 42 games in the NHL in his rookie season, scoring seven goals and 12 points.
He struggled with injury issues the following year and was eventually claimed off of waivers by the Senators. He had a successful short stint on the rebuilding Senators, scoring seven points in 11 games there.
The 2020-21 season is the last time he played in the NHL with only five points in 30 games for the Vancouver Canucks. Hawryluk played the 2021-22 season in Sweden with moderate success and this year returned to North American in the hopes of restarting his NHL career.
Hawryluk has 12 goals and 27 points in 98 career NHL games.
