Devils’ Jonas Siegenthaler undergoes procedure, to be re-evaluated in 2-3 weeks

As NHL teams started to open up their facilities as the 4 Nations Face-Off comes to an end, the New Jersey Devils announced on Tuesday that defenseman Jonas Siegenthaler underwent a procedure during the league-wide pause to address a lower-body injury.
The team said he will be re-evaluated in 2-3 weeks.
#NEWS: #NJDevils head coach Sheldon Keefe said defenseman Jonas Siegenthaler (lower-body injury) underwent a procedure during the break and will be re-evaluated in 2-3 weeks.
— New Jersey Devils (@NJDevils) February 18, 2025Siegenthaler was hurt during a game on Feb. 4 against the Pittsburgh Penguins, forcing the 27-year-old to leave the game prematurely. Following the game, Devils head coach Sheldon Keefe told the media that Siegenthaler “will miss some time, for sure.”
Siegenthaler missed the last two games before the break, in which New Jersey lost to the Vegas Golden Knights before beating the Montreal Canadiens in their previous game on Feb. 8. The absence of Siegenthaler has led to Brett Pesce seeing more top-four minutes alongside Brenden Dillon and Johnathan Kovacevic.
The injury and timeline couldn’t be more of a coincidence for Siegenthaler. The Zurich native broke his foot last January and missed almost two months. However, just a few weeks later, he suffered a concussion that led to him nearly missing another month of the season. That limited Siegenthaler to just 57 games, the fewest games he’s played in a single season since the 2020-21 campaign, the year he was traded to the Devils from the Washington Capitals.
Though Siegenthaler is off the scoring pace that led to him scoring 21 points during the 2022-23 season, he’s already matched the nine points he hit last year. In 55 games, he’s averaged 19:36 of ice time while registering a plus/minus of +9–his best rating in two seasons.
The Devils (31-20-6) are third in the Metropolitan Division, 12 points back of the Capitals for first place.
