Devils place Erik Haula on IR, recall Colton White
The New Jersey Devils announced Friday that forward Erik Haula has been placed on Injured Reserve (IR) with an ankle sprain, retroactive to Jan. 4. The team has also recalled defenseman Colton White from their AHL affiliate, the Utica Comets.

Devils’ head coach Sheldon Keefe told reporters Jan. 6 that Haula could miss a few weeks, and that he would be re-evaluated by doctors.
Through 42 games this season, Haula, 33, has five goals and six assists for 11 points. In 12 NHL seasons, Haula has 147 goals and 180 assists for 327 points in 732 career regular-season games with the Devils, Minnesota Wild, Vegas Golden Knights, Nashville Predators, Boston Bruins, Carolina Hurricanes and Florida Panthers.
As for White, 27, the London, Ont. native was taken by the Devils in the fourth round of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, and spent the last eight seasons bouncing around between the Devils, the Coments, their old AHL affiliate in the Binghamton Devils, the Anaheim Ducks and their AHL affiliate, the San Diego Gulls.
New Jersey is 26-51-6 with 58 points and a goal differential of plus-26. They’re second in the Metropolitan Division and seven points behind the Washington Capitals for first. The Devils have lost two straight and are 3-4-3 in their last 10 games.
Jack Hughes leads the team in points with 55, scoring 18 goals and 37 assists. Nico Hischier has the most goals with 22, and Jesper Bratt has 52 points with 15 goals and 37 assists. On the blue line, Dougie Hamilton has five goals and 23 assists for 28 points.
New Jersey’s next game is Saturday at home against the Philadelphia Flyers at 12:30 p.m. EST.
