Devils’ Hatakka, Flyers’ Richard, Sharks’ White placed on waivers

Friday saw a trio of waiver moves in the National Hockey League.

In New Jersey, the Devils waived defenseman Santeri Hatakka. The 24-year-old Finnish-born rearguard has yet to suit up this season after undergoing shoulder surgery in early October. Friday’s transaction will allow Hatakka to report to the AHL’s Utica Comets, if he clears waivers. Last season, Hatakka posted two assists, four penalty minutes, and a plus-five rating through 12 showings with the Devils, while through 48 outings with the Comets he registered five goals and 15 assists for 20 points with 32 penalty minutes and a minus-one mark. Hatakka can become a restricted free agent in July, per PuckPedia.

In Philadelphia, the Flyers waived center Anthony Richard. Through 15 appearances with the Flyers this season, the 28-year-old product of Trois-Rivieres, Que., has recorded two goals and four assists for six points alongside a minus-three mark. Richard has also seen 18 contests with the AHL’s Lehigh Valley Phantoms in which he has scored north of a point per game with eight goals and 11 assists coupled with eight penalty minutes and a plus-six mark. Per PuckPedia, Richard is in the first year of a two-year contract that carries a $775,000 annual average value.

Lastly, in San Jose, the Sharks have waived veteran center Colin White. Signing a one-year, two-way contract with the Sharks in late January, White has since made three showings with the club in which he has notched one shot and a minus-one rating while averaging 7:18 in ice time. Prior to joining the NHL squad, White began the year with the AHL’s San Jose Barracuda where in 20 outings he scored five times and added four assists for nine points coupled with 20 penalty minutes and a minus-three rating. A 28-year-old Boston native, White was originally chosen 21st overall by the Ottawa Senators in the 2015 NHL Draft.
