New Jersey Devils sign Colton White to two-year, two-way contract

Colton White is on his way back to Newark!

New Jersey Devils President and General Manager Tom Fitzgerald and Devils’ Assistant General Manager and Utica Comets General Manager Dan MacKinnon announced Monday that the club has agreed to terms with defenseman Colton White on a two-year, two-way contract.

White spent the 2023-24 season with the Anaheim Ducks’ American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate the San Diego Gulls where he totalled one goal and seven assists for eight points in 53 games. White spent most of the 2022-23 season with the Ducks where he appeared in 46 NHL games, notching six assists in that frame.

The London, Ontario product was initially drafted by the New Jersey Devils in the fourth round of the 2015 NHL Draft. White spent five seasons with the Devils organization before signing a two-year deal with the Ducks in the 2022 offseason. White played in 196 career games with Binghamton and Utica starting in 2017-18. and set a career-high 30 points during the 2018-19 campaign.

Prior to his pro career, White spent four years with the Sault St. Marie Greyhounds of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) where he collected 21 goals and 72 assists for 93 points in 256 regular season games. Additionally, he appeared in 46 OHL playoff contests throughout his career. White was an OHL All-Star in 2016-17.

With White’s signing, the Devils have now signed five players including Brett Pesce to a six-year, $33 million contract, Brenden Dillon to a three-year, $12 million contract, Stefan Noesen to a three-year, $8.25 million contract and Mike Hardman to a two-year, $1.55 million contract.
