New Jersey Devils sign Tomas Nosek to one-year contract
The New Jersey Devils have signed forward Tomas Nosek to a one-year deal worth $1 million. Nosek is coming off of a two-year deal he signed with the Boston Bruins worth $3.5 million. He played the 2022-23 season with the Bruins, scoring seven goals and 18 points in 66 games. Nosek has established himself in the NHL as a dependable fourth-liner who can put up 15-20 points every year.
Nosek was never drafted into the NHL but he was signed by the Detroit Red Wings in 2014. He played two seasons in the AHL with the Grand Rapids Griffins before making his NHL debut in the 2015-16 season with the Red Wings. After a few seasons in Detroit where he never really got a full opportunity in the NHL, Nosek was selected by the Vegas Golden Knights in the expansion draft.
He instantly became a full-time NHL player as a fourth-liner on the Golden Knights. He scored 15 points that year in 67 games with four goals and six points in 17 playoff games during Vegas’ memorable Stanley Cup finals run. He played the next three years in Vegas before signing the two-year contract in Boston. Nosek has never won a Stanley Cup but made the finals in 2017-18 and was a member of the President’s Trophy winning Bruins this past season.
He will get a good opportunity to win the Stanley Cup this season on a loaded Devils’ team. In his career, Nosek has scored 42 goals and 101 points in 398 games.
