The New York Islanders will see a boost on their blue line as on Saturday the club activated defensemen Scott Mayfield and Ryan Pulock from the injured reserve, reports Andrew Gross of New York Newsday.

For Mayfield, the 32-year-old St. Louis, Mo., native has been sidelined for the past four games due to a lower-body injury. On the season, the veteran rearguard has made 50 appearances in which he has scored twice and added five assists for seven points alongside 25 penalty minutes and a plus-14 rating.

Originally chosen 34th overall by New York in the 2011 NHL Draft, Mayfield is skating in his 12th season with the Islanders, totaling 519 career contests in which he has tallied 27 goals and 96 assists for 123 points coupled with a career plus-24 rating. Per PuckPedia, Mayfield is in the second year of a seven-year pact that carries a $3.5-million annual average value.

For Pulock, the 30-year-old product of Dauphin, Man., returns to the lineup after missing the past seven contests due to an upper-body ailment. Through 48 appearances in 2024-25, Pulock has collected three goals and 13 assists for 16 points with 10 penalty minutes and a plus-seven rating. Pulock ranks fourth among Islanders rearguards in averaging 21:55 time on ice per game this season.

Chosen 15th overall by the Islanders in the 2013 NHL Draft, Pulock’s 10 seasons in New York have totaled 534 games in which he has registered 51 goals and 156 assists for 207 points. Pulock is in the third year of an eight-year contract that carries a $6.15-million annual average value, according to PuckPedia.

On the season, the Islanders sit 25-23-7 and four points back of the Detroit Red Wings for the second wildcard position in the Eastern Conference. The Islanders return to action Sunday versus the Dallas Stars.
