Islanders sign Joey Larson to entry-level contract

The New York Islanders announced Monday that the club has signed forward Joey Larson to one-year, entry-level contract to begin in the upcoming 2025-26 campaign.
Through 37 appearances this season with the NCAA’s Michigan State Spartans, Larson collected 10 goals and 14 assists to rank sixth in team scoring with 24 points coupled with 22 penalty minutes and a plus-seven rating. In all, through three seasons in the collegiate ranks, including his freshman campaign with the Northern Michigan Wildcats, Larson collected 39 goals and 44 assists for 83 points in 111 career contests. Of note, with the Wildcats in 2022-23, Larson was named to the CCHA’s All-Rookie Team after posting 27 points counting 13 goals and 14 assists coming in 36 contests.
Prior to his collegiate career, Larson spent two seasons in the USHL with the Lincoln Stars and Muskegon Lumberjacks. With the Lumberjacks in 2021-22, Larson scored north of a point per game as he finished second in team scoring with 33 goals and 34 assists coming in 61 games before adding a team-leading 17 points counting four goals and 13 assists through nine postseason appearances. In all, through his two seasons in the USHL, Larson totaled 34 goals and 34 assists for 68 points in 71 career contests.
A 24-year-old native of Brighton, Mich., Larson also spent a single season with the NAHL’s New Mexico Ice Wolves in 2020-21 where through 34 appearances he put up 19 goals and 15 assists for 34 points. The prior season, as part of the BCHL’s Chilliwack Chiefs, Larson notched 14 goals and 19 assists to finish fifth in team scoring with 33 points coming in 52 appearances.
Larson is the second undrafted forward to sign with the Islanders in March following the addition of Colorado College Tigers free agent Gleb Veremyev.
