#Isles News: The New York Islanders have signed forward Kyle Palmieri to a two-year contract.
— New York Islanders (@NYIslanders) May 30, 2025Palmieri’s deal is a two-year contract with an AAV of $4.75 million AAV, while Boqvist signed a one-year extension with a cap hit of $850,000.
It’s a slight pay cut for Palmieri. The veteran center finished his four-year contract this past season, which had a cap hit of $5 million. Per PuckPedia, the first year of the new deal is a full no-trade clause, while year two has a modified no-trade clause where Palmieri must submit a 16-team no-trade list.
The 34-year-old is coming off a respectable season with the Isles, though the team didn’t do all that well. In playing all 82 games for the season year in a row, Palmieri scored 24 goals and 24 assists for 48 points, a little down from his 54-point performance during the 2023-24 season.
In his four-plus years on Long Island, the Smithtown, New York native has appeared in 305 games, scoring 87 goals and 82 assists for 169 points, posting 17 points in 30 Stanley Cup Playoff games with club. In 900 career NHL games, Palmieri has notched 270 goals and 257 assists for 527 points, with another 32 points in 68 postseason games.
Boqvist joined the Islanders after being claimed off waivers from the Florida Panthers in late January. He was on a one-year, $775,000 deal that he signed with the defending Stanley Cup champions last offseason. In the 17 games he played for the Islanders, he scored two goals and six assists for eight points. In 35 overall appearances, he registered four goals and 14 points.
Across five NHL seasons, the Swedish blueliner has notched 27 goals and 72 assists for 99 points.
The Islanders finished sixth in the Metropolitan Division this past season, missing the playoffs for the first time since 2022.
With the new contracts, the Islanders are projected to have over $35 million in cap space, according to CapWages.
