Islanders sign Liam Foudy, Julien Gauthier to one-year contract extensions

The New York Islanders announced Sunday that the club has signed center Liam Foudy and right winger Julien Gauthier to one-year, two-way contract extensions.
Through 70 appearances in 2024-25 with the AHL affiliated Bridgeport Islanders, Foudy finished with 20 goals and 25 assists for 45 points to rank third in team scoring. With it, Foudy also recorded 24 penalty minutes and a minus-31 rating. Foudy also saw a pair of appearances with the Islanders in which he registered a minus-one mark while averaging more than seven minutes of ice time per game.
Originally chosen 18th overall by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2018 NHL Draft, the 25-year-old Scarborough, Ont., native has since seen 104 career contests with the Blue Jackets, Nashville Predators, and Islanders in which he has tallied seven goals and 15 assists for 22 points. Foudy also put up two points in 10 games with the Blue Jackets in the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs. At the AHL level, Foudy has collected 40 goals and 56 assists for 96 points in 139 total appearances.
For Gauthier, the 27-year-old product of Pointe-aux-Trembles, Que., saw nine showings with Bridgeport last season in which he collected eight points counting three goals and five assists coupled with six penalty minutes and a minus-two rating. Gauthier also made a lone appearance with the Islanders, coming in mid-October.
The 21st selection in the 2016 NHL Draft by the Carolina Hurricanes, Gauthier has made 181 NHL appearances with the Hurricanes, New York Rangers, Ottawa Senators, and Islanders in which he has managed 19 goals and 22 assists for 41 points. Gauthier has also seen a trio of games in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. A veteran of 214 games over six seasons in the AHL, Gauthier’s time in the minors is highlighted by a Calder Cup championship coming with the Charlotte Checkers in 2019.
