The New York Rangers announced that forward Adam Edstrom will miss the next 10-14 weeks with a lower-body injury.

Edstrom was injured during Saturday’s contest versus the Boston Bruins and did not return to the game.

The injury timeline has Edstrom potentially missing the rest of the season depending on how the Rangers season plays out.

Edstrom has tallied five goals, four assists and nine points in 51 games while averaging 9:16 minutes of ice time. During Sunday’s game, Edstrom was replaced by veteran forward Jimmy Vesey on the fourth line with Sam Carrick and Matt Rempe.

Edstrom was originally selected in the sixth round of the 2019 NHL Draft and made his NHL debut with the Rangers in 2023-24.

Daily Faceoff’s Jonny Lazarus stated “Carrick got a lot of the glory in the past month or so for how well the 4th line has played, but Edstrom to me was the guy leading it all. Significant loss to the lineup.”

With Edstrom out, the Blueshirts will look to Jimmy Vesey. The veteran forward has three goals and four points in 27 games this season. Vesey logged 12:24 minutes of time on ice in his lineup return on Sunday against Vegas.

Vesey is coming off another solid season with the Rangers in 2023-24, where he had 13 goals and 13 assists for 26 points in 80 games. Vesey is currently in the final year of a two-year deal with an $800,000 cap hit and is set to be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.

The Rangers sit sixth in the Metropolitan Division with a 25-23-4 record and 54 points through 52 games. New York is slated to face the Boston Bruins on Wednesday, the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday and the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday before the 4 Nations Face-Off break.
