The New York Rangers continue to be one of the best teams in the NHL, becoming the first club in the league to reach the 40-win mark, currently sitting atop of the Metropolitan Division with a 40-17-3 record and 83 points.

With 20 games to go and a five-point lead in the division, as well as being one point behind the Florida Panthers for first in the Eastern Conference, it’s safe to say they’ll spend most of the post-season with home-ice advantage.

But like every team that’s contending for a Stanley Cup, they’re looking to improve their roster ahead of the March 8 NHL Trade Deadline. Can they add some depth up front? Do they need another defender to round out the blue line? Do they even need to add anyone?

On Friday’s episode of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Frank Seravalli and Tyler Yaremchuk discuss the Rangers’ Trade Deadline needs and if Anaheim Ducks’ forwards Adam Henrique and Frank Vatrano would fit on their roster.

Tyler Yaremchuk: Let’s go over to the YouTube chat. Mikey D wants to know what the Rangers could get up to and if the Vatrano-Henrique connection is real?

Frank Seravalli: It’s real. The Ducks have spent a long time scouting the Rangers. My thought process is, as unofficial as it is, it’s gotta be some kind of roster player that the Rangers are looking to send back to Anaheim.

There’s been lots of speculation that it’s Kaapo Kakko and if he’s in play, although Rangers fans didn’t like that I mentioned his name in a potential trade proposal. If there’s a trade that involves both Henrique and Vatrano in some kind of package, I wouldn’t be shocked to see that first-round pick and a roster player in play.
