New York Rangers forward Matt Rempe is sidelined on a week-to-week basis, reports Larry Brooks of the New York Post.

Facing the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday, Rempe saw 5:40 in ice time in which he finished with one hit. Late in the second period, Rempe was whistled following a fight with Kings left winger Tanner Jeannot. Rempe then saw a single shift in the third period before the Rangers ultimately fell 3-1 on the road.

On the season, the 6-foot-9 forward has made 36 appearances with the Rangers in which he has scored twice and added three assists for five points coupled with a plus-four rating and a team-leading 63 penalty minutes. In early January, Rempe was suspended eight games following a hit on Dallas Stars defenseman Miro Heiskanen. In all, it marked the second banishment of Rempe’s young career following a four-game suspension last March as a result of an illegal check to the head of New Jersey Devils rearguard Jonas Siegenthaler.

A 2020 sixth-round selection by the Rangers, Rempe has skated part of two seasons with New York in which he has totaled three goals and four assists for seven points with 134 penalty minutes over 53 career contests. Rempe also picked up his first career postseason goal in the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Beyond his time with the Rangers, Rempe has skated with the AHL affiliated Hartford Wolf Pack for part of three campaigns in which he has totaled 17 goals and 10 assists for 27 points in 114 total appearances.

Per PuckPedia, Rempe is in the final year of a three-year contract that carries an $820,000 annual average value and can become a restricted free agent this coming offseason.

For the Rangers, on the season the club sits 34-32-6 and one point back of the Montreal Canadiens for the second wildcard seed in the Eastern Conference.
