Rangers release centennial logo for 100th NHL season

In the lead-up to the franchise’s 100th season, one of the NHL’s Original Six has created a unique logo to mark the occasion.
On Thursday, the New York Rangers released the logo they will display during the 2025-26 campaign, commemorating a century of hockey for the Blueshirts.

The logo is engaging to the eye. Along with an expected ‘100’ in the middle, using the font that has been used on many of the team’s uniforms over the years, and the modern-day crest the Rangers wear, the two emblems are inside the borders of the outline, portraying the franchise’s logo used in its early years.
The “pointed” bottom Rangers crest was used from the team’s first season in 1926-27 until they adjusted to a more “flat” logo in 1948. The team has had various versions of the logo, including different shades of blue—something highlighted in the 100th-year logo—and different squared shapes.
While fans used to seeing ‘Rangers’ going diagonally across the front of the organization’s uniforms, for a brief time, the logo was actually placed on the team’s uniforms from 1976 to 1978. The rendition of the logo we’ve grown to know these days was introduced during the 1978-79 season, the last time the team made it to the Stanley Cup Final before the Rangers won it all in 1994.
Similar to what the Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadiens have done when celebrating their 100th seasons, many celebrations are expected throughout next season, honoring the past and present.
In the first 98-plus seasons of existence, the Rangers have won four Stanley Cups (1928, 1933, 1940, 1994), four President’s Trophies (1991-92, 1993-94, 2014-15, 2023-24) and have had 72 Hockey Hall of Famers, both players and builders, don their colors.
It isn’t known when the Rangers’ 100th season will get underway, but we do know the 2025-26 NHL season will get underway on Oct. 7.
