The New York Rangers have signed left winger Anton Blidh to a two-year contract extension that carries a $775,000 annual average value, according to PuckPedia.

Through 66 appearances this season with the AHL affiliated Hartford Wolf Pack, Blidh has tallied 17 goals and 13 assists to sit third in team scoring with 30 points coupled with 80 penalty minutes and a plus-one rating.

A 30-year-old native of Sweden, Blidh’s last NHL appearance came with the Rangers during the 2023-24 campaign, a 3-2 loss to the Metropolitan Division rival Washington Capitals in which he finished with one shot, two penalty minutes, and a minus-one rating through 5:21 of ice time.

Originally chosen by the Boston Bruins in the sixth round of the 2013 NHL Draft, Blidh has totaled 85 career contests counting stops with the Bruins, Colorado Avalanche, and Rangers in which he has tallied four goals and eight assists for 12 points with 43 penalty minutes and a minus-14 mark.

At the AHL level, Blidh has made 461 appearances over nine seasons in which he has collected 83 goals and 75 assists for 158 points, underscored by his career-high 30-point showing with the Wolf Pack this season.

Blidh has also twice previously represented Sweden in international competition, most recently at the 2015 World Juniors where through seven showings he scored once and two added assists for three points coupled with four penalty minutes and a plus-one rating en route to a fourth-place finish. Blidh also joined Sweden at the 2013 IIHF Under-18 World Championship where he scored once in five outings.

For the Rangers, on the season the club sits 36-34-7 and eight points back of the Montreal Canadiens for the second wildcard seed in the Eastern Conference. The Rangers have qualified for the Stanley Cup Playoffs in each of the past three seasons.
