The Blueshirts ensured some organizational depth between the pipes next season.

On Sunday, New York Rangers general manager Chris Drury announced that the team has signed goaltenders Dylan Garand and Talyn Boyko to one-year, two-way contracts.

Garand’s contract holds an NHL cap hit of $775,000, a minor-league salary of $100,000 and a guaranteed salary of $125,000 for the 2025-26 season. The terms of Boyko’s deal have yet to be announced.

Both backstops spent time in the American Hockey League with the Rangers’ primary affiliate, the Hartford Wolf Pack – Garand more so than Boyko. Garand appeared in 39 games, going 20-10-9 with a 2.73 goals-against average, a .913 save percentage and three shutouts. His play earned him a spot on the Atlantic Division All-Star Team.

Garand was called up to New York during the season, but didn’t make his NHL debut. The former Kamloops Blazer has spent the past three seasons with the Wolf Pack on his entry-level contract, which had an NHL AAV of $902,500 and an AHL salary of $80,000. In 112 regular-season appearances in the AHL, he has posted a record of 49-42-17 with a 2.92 GAA, a .902 SV% and eight shutouts. Garand is 10-7 in the Calder Cup Playoffs with a 2.21 GAA, a .927 sV% and two shutouts.

Garand was taken by the Rangers in the fourth round, 103rd overall, of the 2020 NHL Draft. His biggest achievement came three years ago this month, when Canada won the gold medal at the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship.

In his two seasons of pro hockey, Boyko has played primarily in the ECHL. After spending the 2023-24 season with the Cincinnati Cyclones, the former Tri-City American played for the Tulsa Oilers last year. Boyko went 20-8-5 in 33 games, notching a 2.66 GAA, a .913 SV% and two shutouts. He did play in five games for Hartford last season, going 2-2-0 with a 2.61 GAA, a .917 SV% and a shutout.

In 59 career games in the ECHL, Boyko has a 33-17-6 record with a 2.98 GAA, a .902 SV% and two shutouts.
