Report: New York Rangers to sign Madison Bowey to PTO
As reported by Rick Dhaliwal, the New York Rangers are set to sign defenseman Madison Bowey to a player tryout agreement (PTO) ahead of the 2024-25 regular season.
Bowey spent the 2023-24 season in Russia playing for Dinamo Minsk, Traktor Chelyabinsk and Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod in the KHL where he racked up four goals and 10 assists for 14 points in 51 combined games.

Bowey spent the next two seasons in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Abbotsford Canucks and the Montreal Canadiens AHL affiliate, the Laval Rocket.
Bowey was originally selected No. 53 overall in the 2013 NHL Draft by the Washington Capitals. He spent his junior years with the Kelowna Rockets in the Western Hockey League (WHL) where he registered 172 points in 259 games, captaining the Rockets for two seasons and leading them to a WHL championship in 2014-15 alongside Leon Draisaitl and Josh Morrissey.
Bowey made his NHL debut during the 2017-18 season following two years in the AHL with the Hershey Bears. Bowey tallied 12 assists in 51 games. Bowey scored his first NHL goal against the Ottawa Senators on Dec. 29, 2018. His tenure with Washington would only last a couple of seasons before he was dealt to the Detroit Red Wings. He spent one season with Detroit before ending up with the Chicago Blackhawks for the 2020-21 season.
In total, the Winnipeg, Manitoba native has tallied five goals and 35 assists for 40 points and 104 penalty minutes in 158 NHL games with the Capitals, Red Wings, Blackhawks and Canucks.
