NHL announces Tate McRae as headliner for All-Star Game entertainment
The NHL has announced that Canadian singer Tate McRae will be the headliner for the 2024 All-Star Game entertainment.
McRae is set to perform during the second intermission of the 2024 All-Star Game in Toronto. She joins The Glorious Sons and Talk as the entertainment acts confirmed thus far to perform during the weekend, although the other two acts are set to perform during the All-Star Skills Competition. More acts will be confirmed in the coming days.
McRae will also serve as one of the celebrity captains on Team MacKinnon for the weekend, working alongside the titular captain and Colorado Avalanche superstar Nathan MacKinnon and his teammate Cale Makar. She joins Justin Bieber, Will Arnett, and Michael Buble as the celebrity captains that weekend.
McRae was born in Calgary, Alberta, and first rose to prominence as the first Canadian finalist in the American reality show So You Think You Can Dance. She eventually got a record deal with RCA Records in 2019 after several of her songs gained popularity on YouTube, resulting in the release of her first extended play All The Things I Never Said. She eventually gained even more popularity with the song “You Broke Me First”.
McRae has since gone on to release two albums with I Used to Think I Could Fly in 2022 and the recently released Think Later in 2023, with both being met with Top 10 success in multiple countries on the charts. She’s had seven songs reach the Billboard Hot 100 so far in her young career, including “You Broke Me First” and ” greedy”, along with an additional two songs featuring her seeing the same success with “You” alongside Regard & Troye Sivan and “10:35” alongside Tiesto.
McRae has also received several accolades, including nominations for two Billboard Music Awards, an MTV VMA Award, three People’s Choice Awards, four iHeartRadio Music Awards and nine JUNO Awards among others. She’s also won awards at the BMI Film & TV Awards, Dance Awards, Electronic Dance Music Awards, SOCAN Awards, and at the Youth America Grand Prix.
The NHL All-Star weekend will take place from February 1st to 3rdin Toronto, including events like the All-Star Player Draft, the All-Star Skills Competition, and the All-Star Game.
