Seth Jarvis Over 2.5 Shots on Goal: -128 Sports Interaction

At the time of writing, the Carolina Hurricanes are the largest favorite of the 2024-25 season at their current price of -550 as they host the San Jose Sharks. The Hurricanes once again rank first in shots on goal this season, while the Sharks have allowed the second-most shots against.

Jarvis has been playing some fantastic hockey this season, which has earned him a spot on Canada’s 4 Nations Cup roster in addition to a slot on Carolina’s newly-formed top line alongside Martin Necas and Sebastian Aho. Necas has been one of the best play-drivers in the NHL this season, and the Hurricanes’ top trio will likely generate tons of chances on goal in this matchup.

Jarvis has gone over 2.5 shots on goal in five of seven games since returning from injury, and his promotion to the top unit should help his lofty shot totals continue.

Coach Rod Brind’Amour does play all four lines fairly evenly, and in this specific matchup that is a concern. Even still, I’m surprised to see Jarvis still available at a price of -128 to record at least three shots on goal.

Brandon Montour Over 2.5 Shots on Goal: +105 Sports Interaction

It wasn’t realistic for the Florida Panthers to match the contracts offered to Montour in free agency, but there’s surely still some frustration over how things ended in Florida for Montour. It makes sense to expect the Seattle Kraken defender to have a little extra jump in this spot after the Panthers let him walk last offseason as a result.

Montour has recorded under 2.5 shots on goal in each of Seattle’s last four games, which coincided with the return of top defender Vince Dunn. This resulted in Montour getting bumped from the team’s top power-play unit in favor of Dunn, which is one obvious reason why Montour’s shot hasn’t been finding the net lately despite recording 19 attempts over his last four games.

While Dunn’s return will likely mean somewhat lower shot totals for Montour moving forward, Montour has just happened to miss shots at a higher rate than normal recently. Montour went over 2.5 shots on goal in the first four games of the season with Dunn in the lineup, so he’s still gone over in half of the matchups that Dunn has played.

Montour leads the Kraken with 3.2 shots per game this season, and ranks second with 18.32 shot attempts per 60. He’s gone over 2.5 shots on goal in 18 of 28 games (64%) this season.
