Taylor Hall Over 2.5 Shots on Goal: +130 Sports Interaction

Since dealing away Mikko Rantanen at the trade deadline, the Carolina Hurricanes have responded with a dominant 6-2-0 stretch of play, in which they have scored 3.50 goals per game. They have averaged 32.87 shots per 60 in that span, which ranks first in the NHL.

Taylor Hall’s play on the team’s second line and top power-play unit has been a key reason for the Hurricanes’ strong recent results. Hall has put up nine points in eight games since the deadline and, on a nightly basis, has looked far more dynamic than he did earlier in the year playing for the lowly Chicago Blackhawks.

Hall’s shot volume has risen considerably with Carolina, as over the last 10 games he has averaged nine shots per 60, which ranks first among all Canes’ skaters. The Hurricanes’ new-look second line of Hall, Jesperi Kotkaniemi, and Jack Roslovic has generated 82 shot attempts per 60.

The Hurricanes’ top shooters will be well situated to continue pouring shots on target in tonight’s matchup versus the Montreal Canadiens, as Montreal will be playing the second leg of a travelling back-to-back, and for the third time in four nights.

The Canadiens have allowed 29.23 shots against per 60 over the last 10 games, and will likely spend plenty of time in the defensive zone in tonight’s matchup versus an aggressive, fast-paced Carolina side.

Hall has recorded over 2.5 shots on goal in five of the last 10 games and has a great opportunity to continue that trend in tonight’s game. At a price of +130, there looks to be plenty of value backing Hall to record over 2.5 shots on goal in this matchup.

William Karlsson over 0.5 points: -125 Sports Interaction

William Karlsson’s return to the lineup has come at an important time for the Vegas Golden Knights, as Tomas Hertl recently suffered a shoulder injury that will keep him out for at least three games.

As a result of Hertl’s injury, Karlsson has been promoted to the team’s top power-play unit, which ranks first in the NHL with a 30.1% success rate this season. Hertl’s excellent play on the power play has been a key reason why the unit has been so good, but Karlsson is certainly capable of filling the void effectively.

In the Knights’ first game without Hertl, Karlsson recorded one assist and three shots on goal. He’s put up three points in four games since returning to the lineup, and gets a great matchup to remain productive tonight as the Knights take on the Blackhawks.

Over the last 10 games, Chicago has allowed 4.10 goals against per game and allowed 3.22 xGA/60. The Blackhawks penalty kill has succeeded on just 77.3% of opportunities in that span.
