Jesper Bratt Over 0.5 assists: -115 Sports Interaction
Bratt has become one of the game’s premier playmakers, tallying 53 assists in 63 games played this season, after posting 56 assists in 82 games last season.
While Bratt has benefitted from spending the majority of his time this season playing alongside Jack Hughes, who is now out for the season due to injury, he is still set to play alongside two quality offensive skaters in Nico Hischier and Timo Meier in Friday’s matchup with the Winnipeg Jets.
In their first matchup since Hughes’ injury, Bratt recorded two assists versus one of the league’s best defensive teams, the Dallas Stars. Bratt is still lining up alongside two quality offensive skaters in Hischier and Meier, a line which will likely play huge minutes in this matchup given the Devils’ current lack of depth scoring.
In a small sample of 28 minutes together, Bratt, Hischier, and Meier hold a 61.1% expected goal share and have outscored opponents 4-3. It’s hard to have much faith in the rest of the Devils’ roster right now, but they certainly do a hold a high quality top unit.
With Connor Hellebuyck set to start in goal for the Jets in Friday’s matchup, this is certainly not an ideal matchup for the Devils offensively. However, the Jets will be playing their third game in four nights, and Winnipeg’s potential fatigue should help the Devils’ top unit create more scoring opportunities.
Jack Eichel Over 1.5 points: +155 Sports Interaction
While most people became aware of just how dominant the former second-overall pick really was during the Vegas Golden Knights’ 2023-24 Stanley Cup championship run, Eichel gave us all a firm reminder in the 4 Nations Face-Off. While Canada’s top centers had their moments, there’s an argument to be made that Eichel was the best forward in the tournament from start to finish despite USA’s bitter loss in the final.
Eichel has recorded four points over the last two games, and now has a good opportunity of hitting the 100-point milestone for the first time in his career this season.
Regardless of who the third forward playing alongside Eichel and Mark Stone on the Knights’ top line has been, they have been utterly dominant when together this season. The current combination involving Tanner Pearson on the left flank actually looks to the best combination yet though, as Pearson has done an excellent job in a complementary role.
In 51.5 minutes together, Eichel, Stone, and Pearson have generated 4.54 xGF/60 and scored 4.66 goals per 60 where it counts.
The Knights’ top trio will have an excellent opportunity to continue their recent run of dominance Friday, as they oppose one of the league’s worst defensive sides, the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Penguins have allowed 3.63 goals against per game this season, and 4.30 goals against per game over their last 10 games.
