NHL waiver wire heats up on Sept. 27 as teams make roster decisions

With just over a week to go before the start of the NHL’s 2024-25 regular season, teams are starting to cut players from their training camp rosters and prepare their lineups for opening night.

On Friday, the NHL saw a number of players be placed on waivers, according to PuckPedia. Below are the list of transactions:

Columbus Blue Jackets

The Blue Jackets placed goaltender Zachary Sawchenko on waivers for the purpose of assignment to their AHL affiliate, the Cleveland Monsters.

New York Rangers

The Rangers played forwards Alex Belzile and Jake Leschyshyn, as well as defenseman Ben Harpur, on waivers for the purpose of assignment to their AHL affiliate, the Hartford Wolf Pack.

Ottawa Senators

The Senators placed a number of players on waivers Friday. Forwards Hayden Hodgson, Cole Reinhardt, Jamieson Rees, Garrett Pilon and defenseman Jeremy Davies were all placed on waivers for the purpose of assignment to their AHL affiliate, the Belleville Senators.

Philadelphia Flyers

The Flyers placed forward Rhett Gardner, as well as defensemen Ronnie Attard and Louie Belpedio on waivers for the purpose of assignment to their AHL affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.

Seattle Kraken

The Kraken placed forward Luke Henman and defenseman Nikolas Brouillad on waivers for the purpose of assign to their AHL affiliate, the Coachella Valley Firebirds.

Vancouver Canucks

The Canucks placed defenseman Guillaume Brisebois and Jett Woo on waivers for the purpose of assigning them to their AHL affiliate, the Abbotsford Canucks.
