NHL waivers: Connor Ingram claimed by Arizona, Josh Mahura to Florida, Brett Leason to Anaheim

After the National Hockey League’s 32 teams collectively waived 64 players on Sunday, five of them were claimed by other member clubs on Monday afternoon.

Here’s the full list of today’s waiver transactions:

• G Connor Ingram: Nashville Predators to Arizona Coyotes
• D Josh Mahura: Anaheim Ducks to Florida Panthers
• D Jarred Tinordi: New York Rangers to Chicago Blackhawks
• F Brett Leason: Washington Capitals to Anaheim Ducks
• F Axel Jonsson-Fjallby: Washington Capitals to Winnipeg Jets

The other 59 players waived on Sunday ultimately cleared and remain with their current organizations.

It appears Ingram will likely run in tandem with Karel Vejmelka in Arizona and could push for the starter’s job as soon as this season. The Coyotes also recently claimed Jonas Johansson from Colorado in an effort to add more goaltending depth.

Ingram, 25, posted a 30–17–9 record and a .915 save percentage in 54 AHL games with the Milwaukee Admirals this season before taking the reins in Nashville in relief of Juuse Saros and David Rittich during the playoffs. He managed a .913 save percentage in four games against the high-powered Colorado Avalanche as the Predators were swept in the first round.

Mahura, 24, joins the Panthers after spending parts of four seasons with Anaheim, his draft club. The 6’0″ left-handed defenseman appeared in 38 games with the Ducks in 2021–22, scoring three goals and seven points while averaging 14:04 per night.

Tinordi, 30, has become a journeyman in recent seasons after entering the league as a first-round pick of the Montreal Canadiens. The 6’6″ LHD has appeared in 109 career games with Montreal, Nashville, Arizona, Boston, and the Rangers, scoring 13 points and averaging 14:56.

Leason, 23, is the youngest player claimed on Monday. Drafted by the Washington Capitals as a 20-year-old overager in the 2019 second round, the 6’5″ right wing appeared in his first 36 NHL games last season and scored six points (three goals, three assists).

Finally, the 24-year-old Jonsson-Fjallby is known as much for his impressive hair as he is for his game. “Thor,” a 6’1″ left wing, hammered home two goals and added a pair of assists in 23 games with the Capitals last season.

After more than five dozen players were made available on waivers yesterday, only one is up for grabs today: Glenn Gawdin, a longtime Calgary Flames prospect who signed a two-year contract with the Anaheim Ducks this past summer.

Only new name on waivers today (Oct. 10) is Glenn Gawdin (ANA).
