The Professional Women’s Hockey League got some love from a Grammy Award-nominated artist, as Noah Kahan performed his set at Osheaga 2024 while wearing a PWHL Montreal sweater on Friday.

The 27-year-old Kahan is known to wear jerseys of teams from the cities he’s performing in, but this instance is unique as it appears to be the first time an artist has worn a jersey from the PWHL.

A native of Strafford, Vt., Kahan performed a 16-song set and said the event was a full-circle moment for him.

“This fest is extra special to me,” he wrote on Instagram Stories. “In the Used to bum up to Montreal with my buddies and sleep in parking lots since we couldn’t find hotels with room.”

In the PWHL’s inaugural season, Montreal finished second with a 13-6-5 record and 41 points. They were swept in the first round of the Walter Cup Playoffs by PWHL Boston.

Captain Marie-Philip Poulin led the team with 23 points, scoring 10 goals and 13 assists. Defender Erin Ambrose, who would be named PWHL Defender of the Year in June, recorded a team-leading 14 assists. Forward Laura Stacey was tied with Poulin for the most goals with 10.

In June’s PWHL Draft, Montreal selected defender Cayla Barnes out of Ohio State with the fifth-overall pick. In their final college season, Barnes scored 11 goals and 25 assists for 36 points in 39 games.
