Oilers’ Stuart Skinner leaves game vs. Bruins with lower-body injury
Edmonton Oilers’ goaltender Stuart Skinner left Tuesday’s game against the Boston Bruins with a lower-body injury.

Skinner was injured after Bruins’ defenseman Nikita Zadorov made contact with him on a play during the first period. The Oilers’ netminder was down for some time as the team trainer took a look at him. Calvin Pickard would enter the game.
At the beginning of the third period, the Oilers were winning 3-0, thanks in part to two goals from Adam Henrique and one from captain Connor McDavid.
Skinner is 15-8-3 with an .898 save percentage (SV%) and 2.78 goals against average (GAA) in 26 appearances. Through five NHL seasons, the 26-year-old has a 87-44-13 record with a .907 SV% and 2.71 GAA.
Skinner has also played in 35 Stanley Cup Playoff games, posting a 19-15 record with an .894 SV% and 2.83 GAA.
Taken in the third round of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, Skinner spent five seasons in the Western Hockey League’s Lethbridge Hurricanes between 2013-14 and 2017-18. In his last season, he was traded to the Swift Current Broncos, where he helped them win an WHL Championship.
Meanwhile, Pickard is 9-4-0 with an .898 SV% and 2.47 GAA.
The Oilers are 24-12-3 with 51 points, third in the Pacific Division. Edmonton has won three straight games and are 7-2-1 in their last 10 games.
Forward Leon Draisaitl leads the team with 59 points, scoring 29 goals and adding 30 assists. Meanwhile, McDavid leads the club with 39 assists, to go along with 15 goals and 54 points.
Defenseman Evan Bouchard leads blueliners with 30 points, scoring seven goals and adding 23 assists. He leads the club in ice time with 23:35.
