Philadelphia Flyers forward Oskar Lindblom has been awarded the 2021 Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy.

Lindblom, 24, had a very well-documented battle with Ewing’s sarcoma, a form of bone cancer, that began back in December of 2019.

After completing his cancer treatments, Lindblom returned to the Flyers’ lineup in September, and appeared in 50 games with the club this season.

The other finalists for this year’s award were Matt Dumba of the Minnesota Wild and Patrick Marleau of the San Jose Sharks.

Lindblom was nominated for the Masterton Trophy last season as well, but ultimately lost out to Bobby Ryan.

A $2,500 grant from the PHWA is awarded annually to the Bill Masterton Scholarship Fund, based in Bloomington, Minn., in the name of the Masterton Trophy winner.
