News fans in the nation’s capital know All Too Well (Ottawa Senators‘ Version).

On Monday, Senators head coach Travis Green revealed that captain Thomas Chabot will probably miss the next 1-2 weeks while recovering from an upper-body injury.

Chabot was injured during the Senators’ matchup with the Philadelphia Flyers this past Saturday. While Green nor the team specified what is ailing the veteran defenseman, Chabot seemed to have injured his wrist while tripping Flyers forward Trevor Zegras just past the halfway mark of the opening frame.

Chabot tried to play through the pain, but exited the contest shortly after taking five shifts before the middle mark of the second period. The 29-year-old logged 12:03 of ice time across 16 shifts, registering a shot on goal and a plus/minus of -1, as Ottawa fell to the previously winless Flyers.

When Green spoke to reporters on Monday, he noted that Chabot had been dealing with an ailment heading into Saturday’s matchup, adding that the Quebec native might’ve initially been hurt during Ottawa’s shootout victory over the New York Islanders last Thursday.

“It might have happened the game before,” Green said. “It happened early; finished the game.”

Regardless of when or how it happened, the Senators playing without their top blueliner is unwelcome, but a familiar sight. In his first nine seasons of his NHL career, the only time Chabot played every game during the regular season was in 2019-20, as he appeared in all 71 contests in the COVID-shortened campaign. Last year, injuries limited him to 57 games, down from 80 in 2023-24.

The Senators (6-3-0) have had a solid start to the 2026-27 season, but will be facing some tough competition with Chabot on the shelf. They take on the Florida Panthers on Wednesday, before hosting the San Jose Sharks the following night. If the injury lasts longer than Ottawa hopes, Chabot could miss the start of the Sens’ road trip out west, which begins on Oct. 27 against the Vegas Golden Knights.
