On pace to make their first appearance in the Stanley Cup Playoffs since 2017, the Ottawa Senators could be a team poised to make a deep run in this year’s postseason.

Winners of seven of their past 10 outings, the Senators have climbed to the first wildcard seed in the Eastern Conference with a 36-26-5 showing. Leading to the team’s success, this season the Senators have seen a marked improvement between the pipes where first-year goaltender Linus Ullmark has won 18 of 35 games coupled with a .911 save percentage, 2.67 goals-against average, and three shutouts. The Senators also have three 50-plus point producers, headlined by center Tim Stutzle who is scoring north of a point per game with 20 goals and 48 assists through 67 appearances this season.

On Thursday’s episode of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Frank Seravalli and Tyler Yaremchuk answered a listener question about which NHL squad could be that under-the-radar team this postseason, landing on Ottawa.

Tyler Yaremchuk: Frank, a Daily Faceoff inbox question – What other potential playoff team on the bubble has an authentic chance of going on a run and being the Cinderella Story of these playoffs?

Frank Seravalli: The Senators. I think they have the goalie. I think they have the playoff performer – even though he hasn’t gotten there yet – the beast that we saw at 4 Nations in Brady Tkachuk. I think they could catch a team sleeping. If you think you’re going to walk through the Senators, they’re going to be a difficult team to play against, and that really stands out.

Tyler Yaremchuk: I think I’d agree. The Ullmark factor can be such a massive difference maker for them. I think you need that elite, high-end goalie to do it.
