Dylan Cozens has found his game again with the Senators

Ever since the Ottawa Senators acquired Dylan Cozens from the Buffalo Sabres at the March 7 NHL Trade Deadline, the 24-year-old forward has found his groove, scoring two goals and three assists for five points in six games with the new club.
The Senators are 36-26-5 with 77 points, holding on to the first Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference, barring a collapse of historical proportions, they should make the playoffs for the first time since 2017.
On Wednesday’s episode of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Jonny Lazarus and former NHL forward Nate Thompson discuss Cozens’ recent success and what the future holds for a young Ottawa group.
Jonny: We sat on the Trade Deadline show and I said I did not like the Cozens trade to Ottawa, and you said you loved it, and oh boy, was I wrong. Five points in six games, looking like a perfect fit with the Senators. I believe they’re 7-3-1 in their last 11 games, and they’ve been playing really well.
It seems like they have that first Wild Card spot locked up. What have you made of Cozens and his fit with the group so far?
Nate: When they traded for him, I look at a player like Cozens and I’ve loved his game since he played for Canada at the World Juniors. You see the blue collar game he plays, and I think his style of game fits better with the Senators. They play a blue collar game, they play physical, they have guys who play on the edge, and I think Cozens has that ability.
You see the chance they’ve given him, playing on the first power play, and he’s fit in seamlessly with that team, and I think he’s getting a good opportunity. Sometimes getting that opportunity and a change of scenery is all you need, and that’s exactly what they’re getting from Dylan Cozens right now.
