Senators fans throw dozens of Brady Tkachuk jerseys on ice

Fans in the nation’s capital made their voices heard and ultimately got the last laugh.
During a break in the action in the third period of the highly anticipated matchup between the Florida Panthers and Ottawa Senators, Senators fans found an opportunity to dispose of some leftover Brady Tkachuk jerseys, and dozens of sweaters from the former Ottawa captain flew over the glass and onto the ice at the Canadian Tire Centre on Wednesday night.
The public display of disapproval might’ve been sparked by a scuffle involving the Tkachuk brothers, as the two got into it with many of Brady’s former teammates in front of the Ottawa bench, leading to roughing minors for the infamous duo.
Senators supporters throwing jerseys on the ice was somewhat expected heading into Wednesday’s contest. After morning skate, Tkachuk told reporters he would donate any jersey thrown onto the ice to the Boys & Girls Club of Ottawa, where the 27-year-old volunteered during his time with the Sens.
The players wearing the current Sens logo were sure not to let the moment overcome them, as the team put forth a dominating effort. Despite Tkachuk scoring the first goal of the game, Ottawa stormed back with five unanswered goals, coming away with a 5-1 victory. Tkachuk finished the game with a -2 plus/minus and four penalty minutes.
The jersey-throwing was only part of the patrons’ antics throughout the contest. Chants of “Brady sucks,” and “F— you, Brady” came down from the rafters every time Tkachuk was on the ice. It was the fans’ first time seeing their former captain play against the Sens since he requested a trade this past offseason, with Ottawa sending him to Florida for three first-round picks and a second-round pick.
