Senators’ Josh Norris to miss time with upper-body injury
The Ottawa Senators are going to be without one of their top scoring threats for the next few games.
On Wednesday, head coach Travis Green revealed that forward Josh Norris will be out for the upcoming weekend’s slate of games due to an upper-body injury.
Travis Green says Norris will be out for the weekend with an upper body injury.
Sanderson and Jensen missed practice today for precautionary reasons.
Though it seems like an undefined timeline, we should expect not to see Norris in the lineup for the next three games, which will see the Senators face the Boston Bruins on Thursday before a back-to-back at home against the Toronto Maple Leafs and Utah Hockey Club.
Norris was apparently injured during the Sens’ matchup with the New York Rangers on Tuesday night. During the first period, his chin hit the ice after an awkward collision in the neutral zone, but that has not been the confirmed cause for his extended absence.
The Oxford, Michigan native registered just 3:47 of ice time before leaving the game. The Rangers went on to win the game, 5-0, snapping Ottawa’s short two-game win streak.
Sens’ fans hearing about Norris suffering from an upper-body injury brings uneasy feelings after last season, where shoulder issues hindered the 25-year-old. It led to Norris being placed on long-term injured reserve in early March, with the young scorer undergoing season-ending surgery.
Yet, Norris came back this season rejuvenated and has been a key member of an Ottawa team trying to challenge for a playoff spot. Through 47 games, he’s scored 17 goals and 10 assists for 27 points, putting him second on the team in goals and fifth in points.
The Senators (24-19-4) are tied for fourth in the Atlantic Division, holding the first Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.
