Some roster moves in the nation’s capital on Thanksgiving weekend.

On Sunday, the Ottawa Senators announced that defenseman Cameron Crotty has been placed on injured reserve, due to an undisclosed injury.

In response, the team has called up fellow blueliner Jorian Donovan from its American Hockey League affiliate, the Belleville Senators.

Crotty has been out of action since Oct. 6, when the Senators fell to the Detroit Red Wings. It’s not yet known whether the 27-year-old was injured during the game, as he logged 10:51 of ice time across 18 shifts, about the same as his season debut the night before against the Boston Bruins. So far, Crotty has yet to register a point, but has a plus/minus of +1 while averaging 10:54 of ice time. While he has missed the past two matchups, the door opened for rookie Hoyt Stanley to jump on the third pair, appearing in the first two games of his NHL career.

The hometown hero was looking to see significant ice time with the Sens this season, as he appeared in just six games last season, spending most of the 2025-26 campaign with Belleville, scoring 10 points in 49 games.

In 10 career games in the NHL, Crotty has posted just one point. He’s in the second season of his two-year, two-way contract, which he signed with the Sens in August 2025. The deal has an NHL cap hit of $850,000 and a minor-league salary of $300,000.

This is the second time this year Donovan has been recalled from the B-Sens. He joined Ottawa last week after Jake Sanderson went down with an injury, but he didn’t see any game action before being reassigned on Oct. 6. The 22-year-old appeared in two games with the big club last season but didn’t score. He’s also pointless in three games with Belleville so far this season.

The Senators (4-1-0) are in action on Monday night, paying a visit to the New Jersey Devils.
