Panthers’ Sergei Bobrovsky becomes fastest goaltender to win 400 NHL games
One of the best goaltenders in the world has made history.
On Thursday night, Florida Panthers goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky earned the 400th win of his NHL career. He becomes the fastest goaltender to reach the mark in league history, doing so in 707 games.

The 36-year-old netminder achieved the record in the 693rd start of his career, making 24 saves in a 4-1 win over the New York Rangers.
The previous record was held by former Ranger and Hockey Hall of Famer Henrik Lundqvist, who won No. 400 in the 727th game of his illustrious career in 2017.
Bobrovsky still has some work to do to reach the top of the leaderboard in wins. Three-time Stanley Cup champion Martin Brodeur holds the record with 691 NHL wins. For comparison, it took the former New Jersey Devil 735 appearances to win 400 games.
Bobrovsky is currently 14th on the all-time wins list, one win behind former Detroit Red Wing backstop Chris Osgood for 13th place. The Russian netminder is also second in wins among active goaltenders, trailing Marc-Andre Fleury of the Minnesota Wild, who is second all-time with 561 victories.
The former Philadelphia Flyer came into the 2024-25 season after helping the Panthers capture Hockey’s Ultimate Prize, as the team won the franchise’s first Stanley Cup by defeating the Edmonton Oilers in a wild seven-game series last spring.
So far this year, Bobrovsky has a record of 4-2-1 with a 3.11 goals-against average and .886 save percentage.
Bobrovsky went undrafted, joining the Flyers in 2010, but became one of the league’s top goaltenders during his seven seasons with the Columbus Blue Jackets. In 2019, he made a big splash when he signed a seven-year contract to come to Sunrise, carrying an AAV of $10 million through the 2028-29 season.
“Bob” has a career record of 400-226-56 with a 2.59 GAA, a .915 SV% and 44 shutouts.
