A veteran is heading down to South Beach next season.

On Monday, the Florida Panthers signed forward Tomas Nosek to a one-year contract. The deal will carry an AAV of $775,000 for the 2024-25 season. TSN’s Darren Dreger was the first to report the transaction.

Nosek had a rough and tumble 2023-24 season. He signed a one-year, $1 million deal with the New Jersey Devils last July, but missed a lot of time due to injury, including being placed on long-term injured reserve in January, missing almost a month of the season. The Czech forward ended up playing in just 36 games, scoring two goals and four assists, the fewest points in a single season since Nosek became a full-time NHLer seven years ago.

Nosek came to New Jersey after spending two seasons with the Boston Bruins, being a depth piece on the team that set the record for most wins during the 2022-23 campaign. Prior to that, he was one of the “Original Misfits,” playing four seasons with the Vegas Golden Knights, helping the team make it to the Stanley Cup Final in its inaugural season in 2017-18.

The 31-year-old went undrafted before being signed by the Detroit Red Wings in 2014, though he only played 17 games with Detroit over two seasons. At the end of his tenure with the Red Wings organization, Nosek was an important part of helping Detroit’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Grand Rapids Griffins, win the Calder Cup in 2017.

In 434 NHL games, Nosek has scored 44 goals and 63 assists, including 14 points in 52 playoff appearances. The most points he ever scored in a single season was 18, a number he hit during the 2020-21 season with the Golden Knights, and with the Bruins two years ago.
