Flyers’ arena to be renamed Xfinity Mobile Arena starting in 2025-26

The home of the Philadelphia Flyers will have a new name when the team hits the ice for the 2025-25 NHL season.
Currently known as the Wells Fargo Center, Comcast Spectacor and Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment announced on Tuesday that the arena will be renamed XFinity Mobile Arena, as of Sept. 1.
New branding around the arena is set to be installed on Sept. 2, and the agreement will run through the 2030-31 season, ahead of a new arena being ready to host both the Flyers and the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers by 2031-32.
No fees were included in Tuesday’s announcement. However, The Associated Press reported that Wells Fargo had paid $1.4 million yearly since getting the naming rights.
Since opening in 1996, the arena has undergone several name changes, acting as the CoreStates Center from 1996 to 1998, the First Union Center from 1998 to 2003, and the Wachovia Center from 2003 to 2010 before switching to the Wells Fargo Center.
While it has regularly hosted the Flyers and 76ers, it has also been home to several NCAA tournaments, concerts, political events, Villanova men’s basketball and the National Lacrosse League’s Philadelphia Wings.
“Philadelphia is home to the most passionate fans in the country, and that competitive spirit is a perfect complement to the Xfinity Mobile brand,” said Steve Croney, Chief Operating Officer, Connectivity & Platforms, Comcast. “Xfinity Mobile is fueled by the largest and fastest WiFi network in America, which will give our Philadelphia fans an unrivaled experience at one of Philadelphia’s legendary sports and entertainment venues.”
As part of the new agreement, the arena will introduce enhanced WiFi from XFinity mobile, offering fans high-speed internet access at no additional cost.
With a new name on the outside of the building and the need for a new coach behind the bench, the Flyers have a big offseason ahead of them, leading up to opening day of the 2025-26 NHL regular season on Oct. 7.
