Philadelphia Flyers right winger Owen Tippett will remain sidelined with an upper-body injury beyond the upcoming break for the 4 Nations Face-Off, Flyers head coach John Tortorella confirmed to NHL.com correspondent Adam Kimelman on Thursday.

Tippett has been out of the lineup for the past three games, with his most recent appearance coming January 29 against the Metropolitan Division rival New Jersey Devils in which he exited early in the second period and did not return.

On the season, Tippett has made 52 appearances with the Flyers in which he has notched 14 goals and 16 assists to sit third in team scoring with 30 points. Skating in his fourth season with the Flyers, the 2023-24 campaign saw Tippett reach career highs in all major offensive categories counting 28 goals and 25 assists for 53 points through 78 outings.

A 25-year-old native of Peterborough, Ont., Tippett joined the Flyers in 2022 as part of the deal that saw former captain Claude Giroux shipped to the Florida Panthers.

Originally chosen 10th overall by Florida in the 2017 NHL Draft, Tippett has seen 322 career contests with the Panthers and Flyers in which he has tallied 87 goals and 85 assists for 172 points. An offensive force in the junior ranks, Tippett totaled 244 points through 213 games and four seasons with the OHL’s Mississauga Steelheads and Saginaw Spirit.

Per PuckPedia, Tippett is in the first year of an eight-year contract that carries a $6.2-million annual average value.

For the Flyers, the club sits 23-25-7 on the season and seven points back of the Tampa Bay Lightning for the second wildcard seed in the Eastern Conference. After falling to the Utah Hockey Club in overtime on Tuesday, Philadelphia will look to return to the win column Thursday when it hosts the Eastern Conference-leading Washington Capitals.
