Flyers place Helge Grans on waivers

An experienced blueliner is being made available to the other 31 teams in the NHL.
On Monday, the Philadelphia Flyers placed defenseman Helge Grans on waivers.
If Grans clears waivers on Tuesday, he’ll become eligible to be assigned to the Flyers’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.
The 24-year-old has appeared in just one game so far this season, jumping in the lineup on Saturday, when Philadelphia fell to the Boston Bruins by a score of 5-1. Grans registered a plus/minus of -1 while logging 12:26 of ice time in the defeat. It was his first NHL experience since the 2024-25 campaign, when he posted an assist in six games. It was his first game action since suffering an injury in the preseason, coincidentally against the Bruins.
Grans has spent the majority of his five years in North America in the American Hockey League. Once a second-round pick of the Los Angeles Kings in the 2020 NHL Draft, the Swedish rearguard enters his fourth season with the Flyers after being traded to Philadelphia as part of the three-team deal that sent Ivan Provorov to the Columbus Blue Jackets in June 2023.
In 298 regular-season games in the AHL, Grans has notched 21 goals and 57 assists for 78 points, with another five points in 16 Calder Cup Playoff contests. He’s heading into the second season of his two-year contract, which he signed in May 2025. The deal was a two-way contract last season, and it turned into a one-way contract for 2026-27. The deal has a cap hit of $837,500.
The Flyers (0-5-2) look to finally get into the win column for the first time this season on Tuesday night, when they host the Seattle Kraken.
The only player placed on waivers on Sunday, Colorado Avalanche goaltender Trent Miner, cleared and can now be sent to the AHL’s Colorado Eagles.
