Some roster shuffling in the City of Brotherly Love, as an offensive weapon remains on the shelf.

On Monday, the Philadelphia Flyers placed forward Owen Tippett on injured reserve. In response, the team called up forward Jacob Gaucher from its American Hockey League affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.

Tippett was last seen in the lineup last Thursday, when the Flyers visited the Detroit Red Wings. It isn’t clear whether the 27-year-old was hurt during the team’s 2-1 loss, as he played the entire game, logging 15:36 of ice time and posting a -1 plus/minus.

However, in Philadelphia’s Saturday matchup with the Ottawa Senators, Tippett was ruled out with an upper-body injury. The Flyers pulled out a 3-1 win, the team’s first victory of the season.

Per the NHL’s IR rules, he’ll be ineligible to return to the lineup until this coming Saturday, when the Flyers host the Anaheim Ducks.

Coming off a solid 51-point performance during the 2025-26 season, Tippett, along with the rest of the team around him, has struggled to find his groove early on this year. In nine appearances thus far, the Peterborough, Ont. native has scored just one goal and one assist. He has a -2 rating while averaging 16:26 of ice time per game.

Tippett has been a consistent offensive force since coming to the Flyers ahead of the trade deadline in the 2021-22 campaign. He has posted at least 20 goals and 40 points in each of his four full seasons with the club, including a career-high 28 goals and 53 points in 2022-23.

Gaucher has played four games in each of the past two seasons with the Flyers, but has yet to notch his first NHL point. The 25-year-old is off to a hot start with the Phantoms, with four goals and eight points in the first six games of the season.

The Flyers (1-6-3) are hosting the Colorado Avalanche on Monday night.
