— Anthony Di Marco (@ADiMarco25) May 29, 2025Foerster was on his way to becoming a restricted free agent after rounding out his three-year, entry-level contract that he originally signed in October 2020. He’s coming off his best season in his young NHL career, having scored 25 goals and 18 assists for 43 points in 81 games. Foerster finished second on the team in goals and tied for fourth in points.
The 2024-25 campaign was just his second full season in Philadelphia. Foerster averaged a hair under 17 minutes of ice time per game, registering a plus/minus of -9.
The Alliston, Ontario native was originally taken by the Flyers in the first round, 23rd overall, of the 2020 NHL Draft. After spending parts of a couple of seasons with the organization’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, Foerster made his NHL debut during the 2022-23 season.
Over the past two seasons with the Flyers, the 23-year-old has hit the 20-goal mark and has been a spark plug for a team that continues to build toward becoming a winning team in the near future. Foerster’s skillset and drive make him a player the franchise hopes can be a key figure in its eventual success.
In 166 NHL appearances, Foerster has potted 48 goals and 35 assists for 83 points.
Along with his experience in the big-time, Foerster has also represented his country on a couple of occasions. The former Barrie Colt played for Canada at the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship, taking home the gold medal. He made his senior national team debut this spring, helping Canada get to the quarterfinals of the 2025 IIHF Men’s World Championship.
