Some more injury trouble in the Steel City.

On Monday, the Pittsburgh Penguins announced that forward Evgeni Malkin and defenseman Kaedan Korczak are considered day-to-day with lower-body injuries.

The Penguins also stated that forward Elmer Soderblom has had his status changed to week-to-week.

It’s not quite clear what has knocked Malkin out of action. The Russian superstar logged 17:54 of ice time this past Saturday in a 5-4 loss to the Montreal Canadiens, not far from his season average. He has missed just one game this year, but has been one of Pittsburgh’s most important offensive weapons. In 13 appearances, Malkin has scored six goals and five assists for 11 points, tied for the team lead in goals with Nick Robertson, while sitting second in overall scoring behind Erik Karlsson. Malkin also has a plus/minus of +1 while averaging 17:03 of ice time.

Korczak has appeared in each of the Pens’ 14 games so far this season, and has logged a lot of playing time in the top four. The 25-year-old has registered six assists, though he hasn’t found the back of the net himself. He’s tied for second on the team in helpers, carrying a -3 rating while averaging 18:21 of ice time per contest.

Soderblom is currently out of action with an upper-body injury. The big winger was placed on injured reserve last Wednesday, but was eligible to return to the lineup this past Saturday. However, it seems that the 25-year-old is going to miss even more time. In just six appearances thus far, he has registered just one assist.

The Penguins (5-7-2) will host the Vegas Golden Knights on Tuesday night.
